How your credentials are protected

Security model

Encrypted at rest. Every secret is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it reaches the database. The database never sees a plaintext key.

Never returned to the browser. After saving, only a masked hint (e.g. sk_••••••a4f2) is shown. Decryption happens server-side, only when calling that provider.

Admin-only and workspace-isolated. Only workspace admins and owners can add or remove integrations, and row-level security keeps each workspace's credentials separate.

Verified before saving, where the provider allows it. For providers with a live check, we call the provider first — a key it rejects is not stored. Providers without a check are stored and marked "Saved", not "Live".

Connecting a tool stores its credential securely. Today Cortex pulls data in from Shopify, Razorpay, Stripe and Google Sheets every night, sends through WhatsApp Business and your own AI provider, and can email from your Resend domain; the rest are stored for the connectors that follow.
